How to get Involved in Club Creole

One question we always get from new members is “how do I get involved in Club Creole?” This is always an interesting question since it already refutes the notion of someone being involved in an organization by just attending meetings and events. Being involved in an organization means to contribute to its growth and to engage in its operation. In some organization, doing the former would suffice. But in Club Creole, both actions are needed for us to continue in our path of excellence.

One of the greatest things about C.C. is the multitude of way you can increase your involvement in it. In no time, you can go from the member that just attend the meeting to the member that is helping organizing the event to the member that is in charge of the event then to the member that is in charge of Club Creole’s operations. Below is a comprehensive listing of how you can become one of those involved members.

Join a Committee

Joining a committee is usually one of the first steps that new Club Creole members take. Not only it gives you a chance to work in a group setting where you can achieve common goals, it also provides you the opportunity to make great friends. Club Creole has many committees which are headed by a director or a member of the Executive Board. Some of the committees are listed here. Join Club Creole Dance Troupe

The Dance Troupe which is a committee in its own is a more involved affair. Throughout Club Creole’s existence, it has been known to be a driven force behind showcasing the Haitian Culture in Gainesville and other places. If you are into performing arts or want to challenge yourself by doing something new, this is the perfect way for you to become more involved with Club Creole. Join the Poze Team

The Poze Team is another special committee in Club Creole. It is headed by Weedley Funeus, the Public Relation Officer. The Poze Team goal is to advertise Club Creole on Campus and in the Gainesville community. Being in it, you will have a chance to meet and talk to a lot of people while showing your love for one of the best student organization on campus. Be a Director

Club Creole has over ten directorship positions available. Some of them even consist of two spots which mean that you will not be the only one in charge. The main duty of the directors is to work alongside the E-Board in order to further Club Creole’s mission. Directors are chosen by an application process followed by an interview. That process is usually done in the Summer and the Fall semester. If you are the type of person that likes to take on a leadership position or feels like you can do a great job at that position, don’t hesitate to apply for a position. Becoming is an essential step for anyone who want to be part of the Executive Board in the future.

Propose an Event

If you can’t be a director this year for any reason but you still have an idea for an event that can benefit Club Creole, fill out our Event Proposal form. If your event gets approved by the Executive Board, you will have the option to work on planning it as a special event director. This will give you a chance to say that you own a piece of Club Creole’s history. It will also show everyone that you are more than a regular member.

Help Out

If all the options mentioned above don’t work for you, your best bet is to help out. Throughout the year, we will be looking for people to help with various tasks. One thing we are constantly looking for is people to cook. If you are a master of the culinary art, you can volunteer to cook for some of our meetings or events. We will provide you with the ingredients to do so. Other ways you can help out is to assist us in some of our events such as fundraisers, community services, and socials.

Benefits of Being Involved

Beside the obvious that Club Creole is one of the best organizations on campus to be involved with this organization offers a lot of benefits to its dedicated members. The more involved you are the more people you meet you have a chance to meet in and outside of C.C. Involvement in Club Creole as an officer give you a sense of readiness for the real world. You will have the chance to plan out events, make an impact in people’s life, and achieve other goals that might be unattainable anywhere else. More importantly, your involvement helps making the organization better.
